Amsterdam Luxury Flagship Store Facade (2020)

Project Background: UNStudio, an architectural firm, undertook the renovation design of Louis Vuitton's (LV) flagship store on PC Hooftstraat in Amsterdam. Moving away from ostentatious luxury, the design shifted towards an understated elegance. The design team selected custom stainless steel tiles (Grade 304, 2.5mm thickness) as the core material to highlight the brand's high-end fashion craftsmanship and texture.​

Application Details:​

For the ground-floor facade, 180 square meters of square and rectangular stainless steel tiles were arranged alternately. These tiles exhibit a delicate metallic luster when illuminated by light; glass panels were embedded between the tiles to enhance spatial transparency.​

The transition area on the second floor adopted traditional Dutch black tiles, creating a contrast with the stainless steel tiles. At the entrance of the apartments on the third floor, concealed stainless steel doors were designed, with custom door handles and keyholes subtly integrated into the tile pattern—achieving a unity of functionality and aesthetics.​

The edges of the curved glass display cases of adjacent brand stores were all fitted with stainless steel edging. This effectively protects the glass in the high-foot-traffic street environment and ensures long-term durability.
